WHAT WE OFFER
Here at North Star, we are all about achieving the perfect air for your home! While our furnace and air conditioning products are adjustable to help with air quality and dehumidification, we have other products to help fine tune your air. We have a variety of filters, UV bulbs, humidifiers, and air exchangers to offers solutions to your current air quality issues. We can also customize these features with the help of our air quality testing equipment.
AIR QUALITY TESTING
Lennox has partnered with Air Advice to offer solutions to your home's air. The Air Advice testing machine plugs into the wall and gives reports as soon as 30 minutes. These reports detail: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, humidity, VOC chemicals, particulates, and temperature.
With the option of longer reports, we can see patterns over a couple of days to pinpoint where the issue may lie if there is one. For example, let's say your report shows higher particulate matter in the air. We can look and see if there is a pattern in the time of day it seems to spike or see it is a constant higher average. FILTERS
We install all styles and sizes of air filters, including the standard 1" pleated filters. However, if you are looking to upgrade your filter system to one that catches more particulates and/or removes bacteria and viruses in the air, then Lennox has a solution for you!

Lennox's PureAir filter systems consist of a MERV 16 Carbon Clean air filter, and an ultraviolet lamp activated by a titanium-dioxide coated catalyst. The filter portion captures contaminants as small as 0.01 micron, removing them from circulation in your house. This includes mold spores, pollen, dust, and pet dander. It also removes 90% of flu and cold viruses and bacteria from your air circulation. The UVA light and catalyst destroys household odors and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that can come from cooking fumes, pets, cleaning supplies, paints, and fabrics. It neutralizes them before they recirculate in your home.
HEALTHY CLIMATE
Lennox's Healthy Climate filters come in MERV 11 and MERV 13 varieties. These Healthy Climate filters are 5" wide and capture most of the dust, pollen, and lint that could circulate through your home. They can often be used for about a year, so long as you haven't done any renovations or have many pets that may cause your filter to get plugged. For comparison's sake, the standard 1" filters are a MERV 8 and do not capture nearly as much particulates and should be changed monthly, minimum every 3 months. If you are looking to upgrade your filter system to something that is effective and hassle free, Lennox's Healthy Climate filters are a great choice!
AIR EXCHANGER
With the rising concern of energy efficiency, houses are being built more air tight. This has been great for energy costs, but poor for in-home air quality. This lack of fresh air circulation means air pollutants can be trapped in your home, leading to lingering odours and can even aggravate allergies and other health conditions. This just goes to show that air exchangers are more important than ever before.
Air exchangers work by removing existing stale air in the home, while injecting fresh air from outside and maintaining air pressure. These air exchangers also filter the incoming air so allergens and other pollutants that may be outside are not getting into the air you breathe.
Lennox has two options available - Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) and the Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV). HRV units are better suited for colder and drier climates, such as our Northeastern Ontario region. Lennox's HRVs are compact and super efficient! They have a patented aluminum core that transfers the heat from the outgoing warm stale air to that of the cool incoming air. By doing so, you will not be cooling down your home every time air is being exchanged, saving you in energy costs! With the wall mounted controls, you can choose precisely how much fresh air you are letting into your home, based on your own needs.
HUMIDIFIER
Humidity is an important part of the air we breathe. Dry air is responsible for dry throat and nasal passages, leading to the increased risk of nose bleeds, infections, colds, and other ailments. It also causes dry and itchy skin.
Dry air can also affect the very structure and function of our homes and valuables. Lack of moisture in the air can cause wood to crack, creating gaps in windows, doors and cabinets. It also causes static electricity that shocks not only you, but your electronics as well.
If you find yourself in this situation, we install the GeneralAire GD1042DMM model of humidifiers. It is installed directly on your ductwork. Your furnace passes warm air through a water soaked humidifier pad that then carries moisture in the air throughout your home. This model comes with an adjustable humidistat so that you can control the level of humidity to exactly what you need!
